The Team
Barry Brennan
Barry Brennan is Founder and Managing Director of CapF9.
Barry has extensive experience advising a large variety of early stage, scaling and mature Irish and UK enterprises in a variety of capacities as Advisor, Board Advisor, Syndicate Lead, Investor and Board Director across AgTech, FinTech, RegTech, PropTech, SaaS, Technology and Finance arenas.
Barry holds a LL.B. (Hons) Bachelor in Law from Trinity College, Dublin, a BSc (Hons) in Digital Technology, Design and Innovation from the Technological University of Dublin and a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors. He was admitted as a barrister-at-law in England and Wales and as an attorney-at-law in New York State.
Barry has 25+ years international experience in law, corporate finance, venture investment and investment management at leading global financial institutions. Having developed, led and implemented innovative financial solutions throughout his career, he understands the challenges innovators face building new products and solutions.
Donal Carville
Donal is CapF9's Technical Advisor and Technical Assessor.
Donal has been at the coalface developing and implementing technical solutions aimed at high-speed, low-latency, high-volume data streaming together with pattern-matching analysis using either traditional statistical or AI approaches.
He has experience across a variety of software engineering technologies, front- and back-end. Infrastructure-as-code is his favoured approach, primarily using the AWS suite, and he has years' of experience designing Serverless APIs.
Donal holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics & Management from Oxford University. Amongst other outside interests, he also holds a directorship in a medical research company.
Donal has nearly twenty years’ experience in corporate and investment banking on both proprietary tradings desks as well as in corporate finance offices. Throughout his career he has fostered a love of data and used it to design oblique data harvesting methods to pair with pattern-matching research.
